And life has once again presented opportunities that I simply cannot ignore. I’ve made a few friends recently that have become very dear to me and very encouraging of a different path for my novel, The Kringle Khronicles. You’ll notice if you go to the Book page, the novel is now called Zi. That was the first of a massive overhaul. With much guiding and care, Zi has gone from a middle grade book to young adult. Chris is now 15 years old and dealing with a very difficult situation in his life that gives the story it’s emotional punch and thrust. I am so very grateful to all those who have helped me along this path. You know who you are. I will never forget you. You have opened me up to new possibilities and ideas.

I have also decided to go the traditional publishing route. So when this revision is done, I will hand it in to my agent and we’ll go through the submission process, assuming he thinks it’s ready. It may need another pass. Either way - I’m thrilled with where Zi has gone.

This week marked the beginning of my new blog, dadlands. And man did it hit strong. I was amazed by the outpouring of love and support. So first of all - thank you all so much.

The plan with dadlands is to write a post for the blog twice a week, on Tuesday and Thursday. But I also thought it would be fun to have a way to write a quick bit every day, a simply reminder that all of us can easily do to show our children and families how much we love them. These can be anything from email suggestions, to ways to communicate better, to creative games you might try playing with each other.

I decided to name it: dadlands2day. And you can find it on both Twitter and Facebook. It can also be found directly on the dadlands blog to the right of the most recent post. Go to http://dadlands.wordpress.com to check it out.

More exciting news for today... I’ve opened up another blog that focuses on tips and tricks for the modern dad. Being one myself, I understand how much of struggle it is to keep up with work life, playtime with your spouse, playtime with your child, paying the bills, fixing the broken toy/closet door/toilet seat/cabinet shelf, replace the light bulb/this particular list doesn’t seem to end does it?, not mention having a little me-time.

And that’s why I created dadlands - a one stop shopping resource for anything from healthy recipes, keeping your cool in those tantrum moments, bedtime clinic, setting a routine - but most importantly - having the most fun possible with the most important person in the world: your child.
